HopeWest hires new chief development officer

Ruth Frazier, Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) joins HopeWest serving as the Chief Development Officer (CDO). Frazier is responsible for fostering meaningful connections with supporters who share a passion for our mission and creating partnerships to care for our community. She’ll lead strategies for diverse revenue streams while focusing on today’s needs and sustainability, but most importantly, keep HopeWest’s mission at the forefront of her work.

“Ruth, with a heart for caring for people, instantly recognized HopeWest as an organization she would fully embrace,” said Cassie Mitchell, HopeWest President and CEO. “I am confident our communities will welcome her with open arms as she carries on these philanthropic initiatives.”

With nearly 25 years of fundraising experience, most of Frazier’s work has been in the health and senior care sector, including two large hospices. She recognizes that HopeWest goes above and beyond in each of its programs and service areas, with philanthropy playing a key role in these efforts. Believing that the act of giving is meant to be a joyful experience, she looks forward to helping donors, foundations, and businesses fulfill their philanthropic goals, making a deep and meaningful impact on our community together.

HopeWest’s CDO of 15 years, Deb Horwitz, ushers in her successor ensuring a seamless transition.

“I want to express deep gratitude to our valued teammate and retiring CDO, Deb Horwitz. Deb has dedicated her career to the mission of HopeWest and led through much organizational evolution with drive, creativity, passion, and grace,” said Mitchell.

In her tenure, Horwitz raised nearly $40 million in philanthropic dollars to support the exceptional care provided to each family served. The inspiring teams and dedicated supporters of HopeWest, caring for those facing aging, illness, and grief, fueled Horwitz’s commitment to ensuring the financial stability of HopeWest programs, many of which would not be possible without philanthropy. Reflecting on her career at HopeWest, Horwitz acknowledges the many meaningful friendships she’s made through the years that added joy to her purposeful career.
