The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park can now boast unrivaled internet speeds right along with its views. This summer, Elevate Internet, built out its network in the park, bringing with it world-class internet speeds and opportunities for advanced emergency communications and improved operations for park staff and visitors alike.
“We are certainly exceedingly thankful for Elevate’s support in getting high-speed internet to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Without their dedication to bringing high-speed internet to the community, we would not have the connectivity needed for basic park operations,” said Stuart West, Superintendent, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and Curecanti NRA.
According to Jack Johnston, Elevate President, the benefits of bringing fiber to a National Park like the Black Canyon are significant. Most notable are improved safety and communication.
“When emergencies strike, time is of the essence, and a reliable internet connection ensures uninterrupted communication between park staff, emergency services, and visitors when it matters most. Whether that’s to send out important alerts and updates, respond to an injury, or conduct an emergency evacuation,” stressed Johnston.
In addition to facilitating improved emergency response services, a fiber internet connection brings luxuries to the park that consumers already take for granted elsewhere, from efficient payment processing at the gate and visitor center to the ability to access information, maps, and other educational resources.
“We are privileged to be the provider of choice for the Black Canyon. It’s a local treasure that we can only hope to enrich further by providing a connection that supports current operations and also opens the door to advanced conservation efforts and even virtual tourism,” said Johnston.
