After opening in April, a local beverage stand has helped its customers get their caffeine fix.
The idea for the Zoomiez Beverage Hut came about when Jamie Hawkins and her mom, Tawnya, visited other nearby towns.
“There’s a beverage trailer that we frequent up north that is super popular, and every single time we go up there, we visit that trailer every day that we are there,” Jamie said. “So we wanted to bring something like that here because there’s not a lot of other drink options than coffee.”
When she says other than coffee, she means other ways to get a caffeine buzz.
So they came up with a menu. They serve tea and coffee drinks, but they also do drinks with Lotus (a natural energy ingredient). Really unique are their Red Bull and Monster-based drinks.
One example is a Jack Russel Terrier. It’s made with Monster Ultra, fresh lime and grape Zipfizz.
Want something more citrusy? You can try the Border Collie. That’s a grapefruit pomegranate Red Bull with fresh lime.
You may have noticed a theme.
All their beverage options are named after breeds of dogs. The idea is that their drinks give the drinker a burst of energy, not dissimilar to the zoomies a dog gets when it spontaneously decides to run around the living room.
They also have their “Make-A-Mutt” coffee option — hot or iced coffee with any flavorings or milks you want.
And sizes are appropriately named Toy, Mini, Standard and Giant.
They also have 32 different sugar-free flavors to choose from.
“Everything’s based on dogs,” Jamie, 25, said. “So it’s named for the dog. The flavors are supposed to be like their temperaments, or things along those lines. It’s something kind of cute and fun, and people seem to like it.”
They like it enough to keep coming back, Jamie said. She said some regulars come through multiple times a day.
And, of course, they’re dog lovers.
Jamie has two dogs. Her mom has three, and Baylee Dorman, the manager, has one.
Once they conceived the idea, there was just making the business happen. They had a trailer picked out they wanted to use, but it didn’t end up working out.
So, Jamie’s dad, who runs Elevate Off-Road and Performance right next to the beverage stand at 427 N. Cascade Ave, offered up his bronco-hauling trailer.
The ladies went to work, completely modifying the inside with new floors, walls, counters and everything.
The result is a spacious stand with a drive-thru window for vehicles and a walk-up counter for foot traffic.
Right now, they’re in a trailer, but they hope to eventually upgrade to something like a permanent shack. “
“There is some stuff that we wish we had a little bit more space for, but that would be cool,” Jamie said. “Kind of like the Java Hut in Delta, maybe something a little big bigger than that.”
They are on Facebook and Instagram, for more information.
